Home : Link Feedback
How are people finding your site? Link Feedback allows you to see --- and show --- where your visitors are coming from. With just a simple fragment of Javascript on your pages, you can be tracking referrers in a couple of minutes.
Whenver you visit a web page, your browser tells the web server where it just came from. For example, if you click this link to go to yaywastaken, the browser will send along the url for this blogtricks page as the "referrering" page. This mechanism provides a means for webmasters to know how people are finding their site.
The Link Feedback tool automates the process of tracking and displaying these referrers for your site. The output is fully customizable using CSS or XSL stylesheets, and our linkbuilder tools make generating the scripts easy.
You'll need an account to start using Link Feedback; when you click one of the linkbuilder links below you'll be prompted to login or create a new account. Doing so is completely free; a small blogtricks logo will be shown below the list of referrers. If you would like to remove the logo, you can do so at any time for a small annual subscription fee. Visit your account for more details.
You will need to use either the "all-in-one" or "tracking only" scripts to keep track of your referrers; you then have a pretty wide choice of methods for viewing and displaying the list. If you're really ambitious, read about the various options for customizing the appearance of your list.

| all-in-one | Here's where you probably want to start. This script will track and display your referrers, all in one place. |
| tracking only | For those who don't want to show the referrer list on your pages, this script will track referrers without any visible trace. Because this script prevents the blogtricks logo from being visible, you must be a subscribing member to use it. Visit your account for information on our free trial. |
| display only | This script allows you to display your referrer list on a web page other than the one you're tracking. For example, you might want to show the referrer list in a popup or window or an "about this site" page. |
| rss | Generate a URL that you can usep in your news aggregator to view your referrer list as an RSS feed. |
| html | Generate a URL that you can use to view your referrers in any web browser ... handy if you don't want to display the list anywhere on your site. |
